Technické benzíny sú zmesi ropných uhľovodíkov, ktoré vrú približne v rozmedzí teplôt podľa označenia. Získavajú sa rektifikáciou a hydrogenáciou primárnych benzínových destilátov. Sú to priezračné bezfarebné kvapaliny charakteristického benzínového zápachu, bez viditeľnej vody a mechanických nečistôt. Technické benzíny sú veľmi horľavé kvapaliny. Z hľadiska hygieny práce sú technické benzíny látky škodiace zdraviu. V závislosti od koncentrácie pár pôsobia narkoticky a dráždia sliznice. Pri vdychovaní vyvolávajú bolesti hlavy. Technické benzíny silne odmasťujú pokožku. Používajú sa pre nátery a farby ako rozpúšťadlo, odmasťovač, laboratórne činidlo, v čistiarni. K uvedeným náterovým látkam a prípravkom sa pridáva postupne v množstve určenom výrobcom náterovej látky, laku, lepidla za stáleho miešania až sa dosiahne predpísaná konzistencia.
